An action game with roguelike elements, using mechanics inspired by the cult classic Arkanoid. In BALL x PIT, we explore a ruined fantasy land and eliminate enemies who advance in rows. We must shoot at them using various projectiles, capable of bouncing off walls.
Arkanoid is a classic arcade game developed by Taito and released in arcades in 1986. Over the years, it has inspired numerous imitators, including the game BALL x PIT described here. This action game with roguelike elements was created by an independent developer Kenny Sun.
In BALL x PIT the action is viewed from a top-down perspective.
The adventure takes us through sun-scorched deserts, icy caverns, and wild expanses. As we explore the ruined city of Ballbylon and its devastated surroundings, we move upwards, eliminating hordes of enemies along the way. We face both swarms of regular adversaries and powerful bosses.
We eliminate opponents by shooting them using projectiles with different characteristics. Balls (and not only) bounce off walls, and enemies advance on us in rows, reminiscent of the aforementioned classic hit from Taito.
As we progress, we gradually expand our arsenal of available projectiles. Additionally, we can link them to unlock powerful combinations.
Between expeditions, we can catch a breath in New Ballbylon. By constructing various buildings, we not only gradually expand the city but also gain access to various bonuses and new characters. We can play as them during future escapades and each character has a unique set of strengths and weaknesses. Alternatively we can assign them automated tasks in the city (thus ensuring a steady flow of resources).
BALL x PIT transports us to a fantasy world, specifically to what remains of the city of Ballbylon, destroyed by a meteorite impact. During the game, we take on the role of adventurers exploring the ruined metropolis in search of treasures.
The graphics of BALL x PIT were created using pixel art technique.

Game Ratings for BALL x PIT Video Game.
TheXboxHub: 4.5 / 5 by Richard Dobson
BALL x PIT is a mash-up of Vampire Survivors and Breakout, and it is just as addictive. Runs are short and explosive, and you can feel the improvements in between them, all lending itself to giving it one last try, again and again.
TheSixthAxis: 9 / 10 by Dominic Leighton
Ball X Pit carries the spirit of an arcade classic, while imbuing it with modern roguelike ideas. It's immediately one of the best indie games of the year.
Quest Daily: 8 / 10 by Michael Rivers
BALL x PIT channels many familiar traits from other games. The block-busting gameplay of Breakout, the automated action of Vampire Survivors, and the constructive strategy of city builders. Where it succeeds is distilling these disparate elements down to their strongest, simplest elements and fusing them into an addictive rogue-like where it’s hard to resist just one more go.
